PBIS
Chattahoochee Elementary is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) school. PBIS is a data-driven framework proven to create a more effective, efficient, and equitable learning environment for all students and staff. It focuses on proactively teaching and acknowledging positive behavior, rather than simply reacting to misbehavior. This approach has been shown to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a sense of safety, improve school climate, and support better academic outcomes. PBIS schools use a multi-tiered system of support, analyzing disciplinary data to develop school-wide, targeted, and individualized interventions. This evidence-based framework is used in over 1,400 Georgia schools and 27,000 nationwide, saving valuable instructional time and promoting a positive climate for learning.
What is PBIS?
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) is an evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school’s sense of safety, improve school climate, and support improved academic outcomes for all students.
Our Focus
The purpose of PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm by proactively teaching behavioral expectations and acknowledging students for following them. This is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding.
